Senior Alcoa Quality Executive Joins Board of Apogee Global Resources

Columbia, SC (5 February 2008) – Apogee Global Resources, Inc. has named senior Alcoa quality executive Lloyd Barker to its board of directors.

“Mr. Barker is a world class quality visionary and Alcoa is one of the leading customers of management systems certification anywhere in the world,” says Ronald D. Mr. Barker leads the development, deployment and management of the strategic Quality Assurance agenda for Alcoa globally.

He joined Alcoa Inc. in October 2001 as Director of Corporate Quality. He had been Director of Corporate Quality for Howmet Castings before Alcoa acquired it in 2000. Earlier he has had a 13-year career with Honeywell Engines & Systems in the functional capacity of Director, Supplier Quality Assurance and several other quality assurance and operations management positions, including accountability for the Production Engine and Component Test operations.

Mr. Barker also currently serves on the Judges Panel of the Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award, and is a Trustee for The Hord Foundation. He is a past member of the Nadcap Executive Strategic Planning Board, and Past Vice Chair for the American Society for Quality (ASQ) – Quality Management Division.

He is an ASQ certified Quality Auditor, Quality Engineer, and Quality Manager and also holds an Airframe & Powerplant License granted by the Federal Aviation Administration.

In August of 2007, he was the recipient of Nadcap’s Mayben Platonoff Leadership Award.

Mr. Barker has a Bachelor of Technology in Aviation Management from New York Institute of Technology, New York and an Associate in Applied Science in Aeronautical Engineering from College of Aeronautics, New York.
